The girl who drew her own wedding gown(s)

I knew her since she used to draw her wedding gown in our notebooks. Every day, every book. And now I stand beside her while she is trying her wedding gown on. And while the dress is nothing like we imagined it to be when we were 16, the groom is everything she ever wanted, and more.

We had every detail of the wedding planned out. The dress, the bridesmaid outfits, the flowers, the table settings, the music. The only detail we had missed out on was the groom. The face was a little hazy, but we had decided what he would wear. When Keith came along, the face fit right in with our other details. And while the details kept changing, the groom remained the same.

I left the city and Ankita to go to a different city for college. I was the best friend in her life then. We hadn't spoken for 6 months but when I came back, we caught up with each other. Every thing was like before. There was something different about her. The constant smile, the glow on her face.....and the best friend in her life.

Although we hadn't spoken in months, when Keith's friends asked her about who her bridesmaids would be, she named me as one of them. He asked her who I was and she replied someone she hadn't spoken to in months. Ben replied, "But she will be your bridesmaid?". And Ankita replied with a yes. That is the kind of friendship we shared. And that is how it was.

As her closest friend (until Keith came along), I got to witness their love story first hand. I watched them grow as people and as a couple. They had the silly fights stage which I loved because I got to counsel both of them. They grew out of that phase, sadly, and moved to the silly nicknames for each other phase. Then came the 'can't stay apart' phase'. They went through a long distance phase, the bad fights phase, the scar is an ass phase, where is life taking us phase. But through it all, their love for each other never changed. That, and their love for music. The music concerts where I used to yell out 'I love you Keith' and 'Marry me' to embarrass him still bring a smile on my face, and an sheepish smile on Keith's face. Ankita would be next to me laughing.

So Keith, while you stole my best friend from me, I found one more when you came along. I now have two best friends in the both of you. And in the words of One Tree Hill-You make us believe in true love.
