Jigisha

When you see Jigisha, you see a petite, well dressed, mischievous girl. Someone whose smile makes you think she is put to something, and when you ask her about it, she will laugh confirming your fears. You will spend the first meeting thinking she is upto something, yet you can't help smiling back even when you know the joke is on you. And then, you being to fall in love with that smile.

And I know, because that remembering that smile has gotten me through some tough times. Knowing that she is my closest friend, knowing I am hers, and knowing that she saves some of those smiles just for me.

My Jigisha is one of the strongest people I know. Even in those tough times, she still had my favourite smile on. She smiled through the tears, through the loss and through the pain. She never stopped smiling.

Every day we are together is an adventure. Be in getting caught by the police, or screaming for the police while walking on the road, taking off on random road trips, or waiting till midnight for birthdays to end. From planning birthdays a year in advance, to planning them a day before. From dancing to our favourite songs, to singing them aloud. Oh how she makes life exciting. How I wait till I can go to Mumbai so we can get into trouble and smile our way out of it. Going shopping for shoes, and buying everything but shoes-check, going to Church and burning ten candles-check, running to church after exams-check, messaging each other through the night even though we have different exams the next day-check, meeting after horrible exam sessions to hog on chocolate-check, Best Friends Forever-check check check.

I might be the Princess in the group, but that is only because I have friends like her. And as the song goes, its so true. Through stupid jobs, through sucky love lives and through backstabbing friends, Jigisha Datta, you have made my life worth living.

So no one told you life was going to be this way.
Your job's a joke, you're broke, you're love life's DOA.
It's like you're always stuck in second gear,
Well, it hasn't been your day, your week, your month, or even your year.

But, I'll be there for you, when the rain starts to pour.
I'll be there for you, like I've been there before.
I'll be there for you, cause you're there for me too.
