Hinglish

TOTAL HINGLISH
We had this debate in class about if hinglish is acceptable and I was shocked to see a majority of the youngsters in my class found it acceptable as part of todays vocabulary and said english was too formal to converse in it with friends. However....are we really ready to accept it and blend it into our Indian culture?
Hinglish can be harmful especially if children do not have a strong base in one particular language. Secondly with India moving with the world can we afford to have conversations in hinglish giving the world the impression that our english is poor?
Thirdly it differs from generation to generation and state to state...how can we thus adopt it as a part of our culture?
Some people say that maybe for the lack of words or if people are comfertable using it then why not. I would say if people do not find a proper word would it be acceptable from them to using swear words especially with girls? Is that acceptable to girls?
The debate also included arguments about if the media was responsible for it...I would say the media should stop using such words and thus stop the spread of such words.

I agree! If people find it difficult to converse in English, they SHOULD switch to Hindi or any other language instead of blending it with different languages. And 'bout the media, it depends on us to choose the right channel, right newspaper.
