Letter to my baby
Dear baby,
Very soon you will join our family. There are a lot of things I want to tell you and I thought I would just pen it down so I can give it to you someday. Because I know I won't be able to tell you when I see you. I will be over whelmed with a lot of emotions at welcoming a new person into the world.
Firstly, please know that you will be born into a world full of love. Family is not always related by blood and you will make your own family in time. They will be the people who will keep you sane when you need it the most, will let you be your insane self and be with you through the thick and thin.
A lot of people run behind success and fame. The definition of success differs from person to person and I hope you do not run behind something that does not bring you happiness. I want you to know that I will be proud of you no matter what. I just want you to be a good person. You will mess up and things will go wrong. But as long as you learn from the mistakes and continue to be a good person, I will be proud of you.
In today's world, we grow up too soon. As kids, we run behind teaching them as much as we can. It is education first and then a career, marriage, kids. I hope that you have a childhood where you get to be a childhood, a adolescence where you get to explore and experiment and a career you love. I hope you don't forget to live and that you follow you heart.
I hope that you believe in the tooth fairy, and Santa Claus. You believe in magic and cartoons. You believe in love and fairy tales. Let me tell you, I am super old right now and my favourie times are still when I sit with your father watching Tom and Jerry or eating ice cream with the family late at night. I still demand cake on everyone's birthday (just like your brother) and those are the things that keep me going.
The world will try to bring you down at times. It will disillusion you at times. Just keep your head and chin up and respond with love. I hope the hard times don't make you cynical and you don't lose your idealistic approach to things. Don't let the world change you.
Lastly, please know that you will always have an aunt you can fall back on, in good times and bad times. An aunt who will become your sister, mother, friend, whatever you need her to be, whenever you need her. Whatever happens, whatever you doubt, never doubt that you are loved.
