GMH

A clear blue sky GMH, a song that can make me smile when I am crying GMH, the way I feel after I jump and jump for five minutes GMH, the nice gestures my friends do GMH, when I see deaf/dumb children signing their name, that also GMH.

Wondering what GMH is? Well, its stands for Gives me hope. I came across a website called givesmehope.com , where people talk about small stories and incidents which has given them hope. I am not one to go on and on about a website, but this one truly is inspiring. I realised how we take so much for granted. Small things like a call to say how much a person means to us could save a life. And I also learnt that I often forget to tell people how much they give me hope. And the things they do which give me hope. They do. I just forget to tell them.....

You know how sometimes you feel like you are watching your life from the outside, like it was on TV or in a book. (And if you haven't felt that way, then I guess you need to watch more TV).  Coming back to the point,  I was down in the dumps one day. I thought everything that could go wrong was going wrong. (Yes, I can be over dramatic). I went over to my best friends house and we went over to Dominoes for dinner. While we were there, an old man walked in with about 6 kids in tow. I had just turned around to make the I-hate-kids face when I saw that their clothes were torn. It reminded me of several stories I had read, the smiles and the hope.

I saw the grandfather with a smile on his face, the kids and their excitement. And while we wanted to help out, we didn't want to hurt his pride either. They debated and argued, and we waited for their order to come. And while they placed their order, an idea struck us. We asked the waiter to slip dessert in their order telling them that it was free because their order took long.

We waited excitedly for their order to arrive. I couldn't wait to see the smiles on their face. But when the order came, it wasn't what we expected it to be. Between the six children, there was one pizza. And the dessert that we had ordered for them.

And it was then that I realised, that in the stories that I had read, I had only heard one side of the story. Because in my story, it was the kids that GMH.
