What I learnt in America....
10 sure shot ways to getting together with girls
Got your attention? Then read on....
Other boys and girls were put to sleep with fairy tales. My brother and I were put to sleep with stories of Indian heroes. Other kids heard lullabies. We heard the National anthem and Vande Mataram. It isn't that my father was crazy, he just wanted to instill in his kids a sense of patriotism. Because I think my father is one person who saw India the way it is....beautiful, cultured and our Pride.
Unfortunately I think that the trend is dying out when it comes to our generation. If you were asked to describe India how would you describe it
A. Growing country
B. Filled with corruption
C. Rampant with illiteracy and poverty
D. A beautiful cultured country
If you choose any of they top 3 options you represent more then 60% of the Indian population. And I would be entitled to agree with you if I didn't know better.
All of us envy people living abroad particularly the United States of America and the European Countries. But how many of us know that they top the list of polluted countries. Or that India ranks number one in their wish list as one of the countries they do want to visit.
Having interacted with them myself I can say that India and Indians are respected all over the world. The dark colour that we are trying so hard to cover with fairness creams is deemed beautiful by them, the culture which we feel is so backward and which ties us to our family is envied by them and surprisingly so is the fact that we don't have George Bush as our president.
But what they don't know about us is that We make India what it is....polluted, corrupt, illiterate and poor. The other countries are so as they are because of the Educated government or efficient legal system. It is the way it is because the citizens of the country chose to make it so. They chose to abide by the rules. They chose to keep it clean. They chose to not blame the government but support it. They chose to use the media is an effective and responsible manner. Most importantly they chose to respect....themselves, each other and the country. Its about time we wake up to this reality.
Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does.
