Everyone is wondering why i havent written in TWO DAYS...well here is the answer
BEcause there is nothing to write about. For all those who think my blog is very popular...quit thinking. I force people to comment....
Anyways the real reason why I am not writing is this. Doing mass media a lot of ugly truth come our way. It just gets you thinking. For instance while doing a project on Human rights I came across a case while children of sex workers(prostitutes) were denied education because they were the children of sex workers. Are they not citizens of India? Does every prostitute get into the job willingly? How are the children to be blamed for it? Is there anything we can do?
The Jessica Lal case is another example. Just because they are children of politicians is it fair that they get away? Are the politicians there to protect us or to create more problems for us? Dont they get enough privelages as it is?
everything seems so unfair. I feel so helpless. I wish there was something we could do to make a little diffrence.
I wanted to be a journalist because i innocently belived that i could make a diffrence....that i would make a diffrence...Can i do it alone? I once thought that even one person could make a diffrence. But i was wrong
For example look the the reservation quota...although the media hyped it up and played its role the youth didnt react. It did not become a social movement because the majority of the population laid back and watched it all happend.
Is my dream of becoming a journalist to make a difference actually going to come true if the world is going to continue being so goddam selfish???

Everything can be the subject of debate, of course that doesn't mean you write about the cyclist who you saw on the road the other day, but as a journalist, i think (I am simly hypothesising... i am not a journalist or a writer, am an engineer... what a cruel life i lead) that you need to have two things in mind. One to ask the right questions. and two to ask then right question to get the right or required answers.
As you grow into a journalist, you see every kind of misery and crime in life, 99% of which never make it to the daily newspaper. And in India's current state of affairs, i don't see it ever happening.
The fact that you could question these matters, and feel so strongly about it, make you into a good reporter. To swirl the people you don't need journalism and facts, you need marketting experts. Because the sympathy is now a item on the supermarket. It is you job to make it appealing enough for the customer to buy.
Next thing... if you don't want to write, don't write. When you feel something, something that touched you to the core, then you write, and you will be marveled at how articulate and expressive your words instantly become.
Then you will begin to understand that to become a good reporter you have to feel everything, as deeply as you feel for the education on sexual workers, and the case of jessica lal.
You are poised to become a great writer tanvi... seriously... all you need now is inspiration...
have fun... and am leaving tomorrow to the UK, for my university. Will try to chat wth yu from there...
